Tasmanian Government Art Site Scheme, Holman Clinic (Airlock entrance), Launceston Hospital
The underlying concept to the glazed door design relates to a suggestion of natural forms in suspension - hovering, waiting, moving and shifting. A state the patients of the clinic are experiencing in their own lives. The lines and marks within the ovoid shape reference the journey taken by each individual and the undulating rhythms of that journey.
The continuation of elements of this design along the internal walls of the airlock involve lines and shapes slightly overlapping and connecting with one another to represent the integrated relationship of understanding and cooperation required between those working in the clinic, the patients and the visitors.
